Swim Program: Level Descriptions

Our swim lessons are designed to meet children where they are, building confidence, safety, and skill through thoughtful instruction and small group learning. Each level supports steady progress in a calm, encouraging environment.

Calm Blue Water

Water Exploration & Safety:

Ages: 3.8+
Ratio: 1:4/5

Level 1 is an introductory class designed to help children feel comfortable, confident, and safe in the water. Through fun, engaging activities, students are introduced to basic water safety and foundational swim skills. The focus is on positive experiences in the pool while building early independence and confidence one splash at a time.

 

Students will learn to:

  • Safe entry

  • Safe exit using a ladder

  • Walk in water chest deep

  • Jump up and down

  • Blowing bubbles (mouth)

  • Blowing bubbles (nose)

  • Blowing bubbles (face)

  • Front float supported with bubbles

  • Back float supported with ears in the water

  • Kicking legs front and back

  • Kicking legs on back

  • Scooping arms alternating right and left

  • Scoops, kicks, and bubbles supported

  • Monkey walk

  • Safe pool behavior

Water Confidence & Independence:

Ages: 5+

Ratio: 1/6

Level 2 builds on the skills learned in Level 1 with an increased focus on independent swimming in the shallow end. Children work on mastering proper breathing techniques while being introduced to basic swim strokes. As skills progress, students gain greater confidence, control, and comfort in the water.

 

Students will learn to:

  • Enter water from poolside

  • Exit pool independently at poolside

  • Bobs with breath control (10x)

  • Bubble blowing mouth and nose

  • Face in water with bubbles

  • Submerge and retrieve objects

  • Front float independently with bubbles

  • Back float independently

  • Flutter kicks front and back

  • Glides front and back

Stroke Development & Deep-End Readiness:

Ages: 6+

Ratio: 1/6-8

Level 3 is a shallow-end class with an exciting introduction to the deep end. Students focus on swimming across the shallow end without a kickboard while continuing to improve stroke technique. This level builds strength, confidence, and readiness for future deep-end swimming.

Students will learn to: 

  • Jump from poolside (deep water)

  • Bobs w/ breath control (x15)

  • Submerge and retrieve objects (4-5ft) 

  • Tread water

  • Floats - front & back

  • Front glide w/out kickboard

  • Back glide w/out kickboard

  • Basic front crawl (w/ flutter kick)

  • Back crawl (w/ flutter kick)

Deep-End Dynamics:

Ages: 7+

Ratio: 1/6-8

Level 4 is a fully deep-end class where swimmers continue to build confidence and strength while refining their strokes. Students focus on technique, endurance, and efficiency as they work toward the goal of swimming across the deep end without a kickboard.

Students will learn to: 

  • Front/back float (reverse direction 3x)

  • Tread water (1+ minute)

  • Front & back glide 

  • Front & back crawl

  • Elementary backstroke

  • Side stroke

5

5 & Dive:

Ages: 7.5+
Ratio: 1:8

Level 5 is an endurance-based class designed for strong swimmers ready to take their skills to the next level. Students focus on building power, improving stroke technique, increasing speed, and swimming longer distances with confidence. 5 & Dive challenges swimmers to push their limits while developing strength, efficiency, and control in the water.

Students will learn to: 

  • Front/Back float 

  • Treading Water (2+ minutes)

  • Front Crawl (30yds)

  • Back Crawl (30 yds)

  • Elementary Backstroke (30 yds)

  • Breast Stroke (30 yds)

  • Side Stroke (30 yds)

  • Standing Dive
